Fuel pump introduction

If the engine stops and the ignition switch is still ON, the HFM-SFI control module turns off the power of the fuel pump. to avoid accidental ignition. The function of the fuel pump is to suck out the fuel from the fuel tank, pressurize it and deliver it to the fuel supply pipe, and cooperate with the fuel pressure regulator to establish a certain fuel pressure.

Test method for fuel pump performance

It is easier to judge some hard faults (such as not working, etc.) of the automobile fuel pump, but it is more difficult to judge some intermittent soft faults. In this regard, the performance of the fuel pump can be judged by the method of detecting the working current of the fuel pump with an automobile digital multimeter. The specific method is as follows.

(1) Put the car digital multimeter in the current block, press the function key (SELECT) to adjust to the direct current (DC) block, and then connect the two test pens in series in the connection line of the fuel pump to be tested.

(2) Start the engine, when the fuel pump is working, press the dynamic record key (MAX/MIN) of the car digital multimeter to automatically record the maximum and minimum current when the fuel pump is working. By comparing the detected data with the normal value, the cause of the failure can be determined.
